Progression of Photography
As I created this gallery, it showcases how much my photography has developed over the past four years.
It’s humbling to see the drastic differences from one picture to another over the course of time. I went from having to shoot with an Android cell phone to a Canon Rebel T6 with a Sigma 50-100mm, and a whole lot in between. In every situation, I had to act quickly, as it took seconds to select a photo, then crop it for composition and dead space. Here’s how my skills behind the camera have developed:
The Bridgeland baseball team scrimmages against Cy Lakes to start their 2018 season, as freshman Josh Phillips sits in the box awaiting the pitch. Phillips hit in a two-run double to tie the game and 3 runs apiece. This photo was shot with a cell phone.
Sophomore Gavan Kaspar runs in his fourth rushing touchdown for Bridgeland in their first-ever varsity football game in a 70-0 rout of the Waltrip Rams. Kaspar had four touchdowns on the day. This photo was shot with a cell phone.
Junior Jack Grier stands at the front of the team during the singing of the National Anthem before the varsity football game against Cy Lakes. Grier would later lead his team to victory, clinching the first-ever playoff birth in Bridgeland history.
Head football coach David Raffield hoists the first district championship trophy in school history surrounded by the team and coaching staff after a victory over the Cy Falls Eagles. The Bears went on to finish the season 12-1.
Tommy’s Takeaways from Progression:
Learning and applying the rule of thirds into feature and action pictures.
Understanding how to shoot from different angles and positions.
Capturing emotion.
